To allow the conversion of three car trains on the Lewisham branch, platform extensions took place along the line.
However, at South Quay due to limited space and the tight curves either side of the station. - The decision was made by Transport for London to relocate the station further North. Major infrastructure work took place at weekends when this section of the line was closed. Whilst minor cosmetic work was completed whilst trains were running.
The new station (ready for three car trains) was constructed during 2009 and opened to the public in late October 2009.
The station is fully accessible via lifts and escalators.

Train frequencies Monday to Friday: Every 5 minutes Saturdays: Every 5 minutes Sundays and public holidays: Every 5 minutes (no service on Christmas Day)
