Refreshing the Trains
As part of the London Underground multi-million modernisation programme, all 106 Northern Line trains
have now been refreshed.

The refresh involved:
Deep clean of the interior
Electrical component upgrades
External new paint job
Fitment of safety flaps over emergency help points
Full interior repaint
Installation of warning ‘door-closing’ lights
New flooring
New safety signage
New seat covers
Removal of passenger door controls
Updates to the passenger information system/install new cab end LED displays
Wheelchair priority area installed

The signalling system has also been upgraded as part of the lines improvements. This will enhance the Northern Line for many years to come and make journeys on the line more comfortable and pleasant.
The refurbishment was carried out by Alstom who originally built the trains back in 1995.
