Santander Cycles is a bicycle hire scheme which is operated by Serco for Transport for London (TfL).
Users can find one of the 839 docking stations found throughout central London and its surroundings.
They can then hire the bike for a certain amount of time and pay the relevant balance. This will then release the bicycle from the dock for them to use it.
The user is then required to return the bicycle to one of the many docking stations after use. – If the chosen one is full, the control screen will indicate which other docking station is available for them to return it.
Users can register and apply for a member’s key which is a simple and quick way of them releasing a bicycle when at a docking station.
All cycles are checked and maintained on a regularly basis. Cycles can be moved between docking stations depending on demand of use.
