They were first introduced to allow passengers with reduced mobility and the elder to visit larger supermarkets and town centres. They operated once, twice or three times a week often just a return journey during off-peak times.
Bus operators usually used a ‘lay-over bus’ to cover this service as it was sitting idle at the bus garage after doing a school route and would be back in time for the afternoon school run. Nowadays there is just one route operating – 969. There are eight bus routes that have been given the prefix 'U'.
All routes serve Uxbridge Town Centre and link local residents with hospitals, shops and amenities. There are three bus routes that have been given the prefix 'S'.
All routes serve Sutton Town Centre and link local residents with hospitals, shops and amenities. There are just four express routes that operate in and around London.
These routes only sever major bus stops along the route - such as hospitals, larger shops and places of interest. There are seven Tram Feeder Bus Routes that operate in the Addington Village area.
Special ticket arrangements apply and passengers can buy through tickets onboard any of the Feeder Buses for use on the Feeder Buses or Trams. Bus timetables are compiled to meet first and last trams in the New Addington/Addington Village areas. |
